Nicholas Austin is a home-grown Vermonter with a passion for his faith, his family, and the ever-growing world of technology.
Work Experience Nick’s first professional employment was at MicroStrain, a small tech company in Vermont. At the time of his hiring in 2010, the company consisted of about 45 employees, and Nick worked in production. After working eight years in the production department, where he built, tested, and repaired small electronic sensing devices, Nick transitioned to the role of Technical Support Engineer. In this role, he engages customers concerning issues they may have with their products in the field, assists sales in determining the best sensing solutions for customer applications, and manages the handling of returned customer products.
Education Just prior to his hiring at MicroStrain, Nick received his Associate’s in Electrical Engineering Technology from Vermont Technical College in 2010. In 2014, he decided that he wanted to change his career path and decided to go back to school at Champlain College in Burlington, VT, to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Web Design and Development. With this degree, he hopes to transition to a web developer role within his current company upon his graduation in 2020.
Personal Life Nick married his wife, Abigail, in the Summer of 2015, and the two reside in Vermont. Together, they serve in various roles at their home church, leading small groups, assisting in leading the middle school youth group, as well as other ministries. Nick has had the opportunity to participate in several mission’s trips with the church to places like Mississippi, Canada, Boston, and Wales. These trips have provided Nick the opportunity to learn many new skills, experience new places, and work together with others toward a common goal.
Hobbies In his spare time, Nick also enjoys a variety of hobbies. Throughout his life, he has always been an active person, enjoying sports of every season, including skiing, basketball, ultimate disc, volleyball, and golf. He also enjoys the occasional outing with his drone, capturing the beautiful landscape with aerial photos or shooting action footage out on Lake Champlain with the boat and wake board. He has also developed an enjoyment for woodworking, building small pieces of furniture and shelves, and hopes to continue to build up his workshop.
